11/16付で米国FDAから「Statement by FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb, M.D., on efforts to reduce animal testing through a study aimed at eliminating the use of dogs in certain trials」と題して、長官ステートメントが発出されています。
また、同時に、CVM（Center for Veterinary Medicine）から「FDA Proposes Study with Intent of Eliminating Use of Dogs in Certain Types of Research」と題する通知を発出しています。
ECによる「3Rs」に近いものと思われますが、研究用イヌを減らす目的で動物実験を減らそうというものかと思います。
どこの製薬会社も「動物慰霊塔 or 慰霊碑」を設置し、年一回はお坊さんを呼んで動物慰霊祭を行っているものと思います。
また、本ステートメントに伴い、複数の業界誌が記事に取り上げています。
