4/10付のECA/GMP Newsが「New USP Chapter <922> Water Activity」と題して、今秋（11月らしい）に最終化されると思われる「USP Chapter <922> Water Activity（水分活性、でしょうか）」について記事に掲載している。
“Water activity (Aw)”とは、「Water activity (Aw) is the effective concentration of pure water in a raw material or product. When water is strongly bound to a solute or surface, it does not contribute to the Aw. It has been established that bacterial growth is correlated with water activity, not water content. Substances (e.g. food) obtaining higher Aw values tend to support more microorganisms.」と記しており、原料や製品の中に含有される純水の有効濃度 を指すとあります。
